What do we do?

We want to make learning and training in Wales the best it can be for everyone.

Our priority is to support our community by guiding them and giving them the tools to improve.

Who are we?

We're the education and training inspectorate for Wales. The word Estyn means 'to reach out' and 'to stretch' in Welsh.

We are funded by and work independently of Welsh Government to inspect education and training in Wales. Our work is directed by a range of legislation and regulation as well as an annual programme of work from Welsh Government.

Our vision is to improve the quality of education and training and outcomes for all learners in Wales.

Our mission is to support education and training providers to develop a self-improving and learning culture through our advice, inspection and capacity building.
