Principle 9. Values- and strategy-aligned
Values- and strategy-aligned
Evaluations reflect how the provider’s values, strategic priorities, and core aims are enacted in practice. Providers explore the alignment between their stated mission and the actual impact of their provision.
This supports coherence across the organisation. It helps ensure that evaluation isn’t just compliance-led, but genuinely supports strategic direction and cultural integrity.
Reflective questions
- How confident are we that learners, staff and stakeholders can identify our values and strategic priorities, and articulate how these translate into our approach to self-evaluation?
- Which of our values and strategic priorities are most visible in what we measure, monitor and reflect on in self-evaluation, and which are less so?
- Are there areas in which our values and strategic priorities seem more aspirational than achievable, or where it isn’t clear how we would evaluate our impact?
- How confident are we that different teams working within our institution have a shared understanding of our values and strategic priorities?
- To what degree are different teams empowered to ensure that what they measure and monitor in self-evaluation reflects our values and strategic priorities – rather than only responding to immediate reporting requirements?
- To what degree do our values and strategic priorities feature in discussions around how we interpret data and other evidence of our impact?
- To what degree are we able to show a direct link between our values and strategic aims and our impact?
- If an external observer were to look only at the impact of our provision, would they be able to identify the core aims underpinning it?
