Learning through the lens of RVE

The school provides a broad, balanced and highly effective curriculum that reflects its vision and values while meeting the needs of pupils exceptionally well. An outstanding feature is its sophisticated approach to religion, values and ethics (RVE), where a broad curriculum links effectively with humanities through opportunities for pupils to investigate their learning and build their skills progressively. Staff use inquiry questions skilfully to explore important themes, including global issues, sustainable development, citizenship and diversity. Core values are embedded successfully across learning experiences and, together with rich opportunities to apply literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the curriculum, help most pupils develop as confident, reflective and capable learners. By the time they leave the school, most pupils use their skills effectively to support their learning and demonstrate a strong understanding of their community, Wales and the wider world. The curriculum also promotes pupils’ moral, social and cultural development highly successfully, enabling nearly all pupils to reflect thoughtfully on their values and responsibilities. Consequently, nearly all pupils demonstrate respectful attitudes, form positive relationships with others and the world around them, and show a mature understanding of their role as ethical and informed citizens.
