Spotlight: Thoughtful Delivery of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)

Relationships and sexuality education (RSE)SE is delivered thoughtfully and sensitively to meet the diverse needs of pupils. Pupils develop important knowledge and skills that help them understand how to keep themselves safe online, build positive relationships and recognise kindness, consent and respectful behaviour. Pupils contribute meaningfully to shaping the curriculum in this area, ensuring learning is relevant and engaging. Across the school, pupils explore themes such as safe and unsafe relationships, identifying trusted adults, understanding friendships, recognising their own strengths and developing awareness of changes associated with puberty and growing up.Where appropriate, RSE is delivered through a highly personalised approach rather than discrete lessons, reflecting individual learning and communication needs. Staff carefully embed learning through everyday routines and supportive interactions, including personal care. This helps pupils develop understanding of personal boundaries, private spaces, emotional changes and body awareness in ways that are appropriate, respectful and responsive to their needs.
