Peer inspector recruitment – Maintained Special & PRU
Becoming a Peer Inspector is a great opportunity to develop your professional skills and contribute to improvement in your sector.
We’re looking for candidates who are currently senior leaders in:
• Maintained special schools.
• PRUs.
Peer Inspectors are a key part of our inspection teams. If you qualify as a Peer Inspector, you’ll:
• use your knowledge and skills during learning walks and lesson observations, talk to learners, and scrutinise samples of their work.
• contribute to discussions, as part of the inspection team to arrive at agreed team evaluations.
• use your evaluations to draft sections of the inspection report.
As a Peer Inspector, you’ll be making an invaluable contribution to Estyn inspections. You’ll get a brilliant opportunity to see effective practice in action, and to take these examples back to your setting to support improvement.
We offer training and, if completed successfully, we will add you to our register of Peer Inspectors.
We particularly welcome those from diverse backgrounds and those working in the medium of Welsh to apply.
Download the information pack and guidance document for more information on the role and details on how to apply.
Closing date: 5pm on 28 September 2026
Successful candidates will be notified by week beginning 5 October 2026.
