Digital media as a catalyst for confidence, inclusion and skills development

Young people develop valuable skills and confidence through a range of engaging digital media projects. They make effective use of technology, including drone photography, animation and film making, to provide inclusive and empowering learning experiences that help them achieve their potential. These creative projects have led to the production of high quality, meaningful outputs such as a Remembrance Sunday video, a series of powerful animations tackling bullying, racism, and gender identity, and a community film. These projects are particularly effective in engaging young people who are otherwise reluctant to participate, offering an alternative and expressive route into learning and reflection.Through these activities, young people gain practical skills in camera work, editing, presenting, and team collaboration. They also develop emotional literacy and confidence, using media as a tool to explore identity, challenge prejudice, and share their voices with wider audiences. Participants describe how these experiences have made them feel heard, valued, and more motivated to pursue future aspirations.
