Lay Inspector - Estyn

Lay Inspector

Join our school and PRU teams as a Lay Inspector

We’re looking for members of the public who have an interest in, but don’t work in, education to join our inspection teams.

Being a Lay Inspector is a brilliant opportunity to help your community and make a difference to the lives of young people. Lay Inspectors consider how aspects of school life affect the safety, well-being and attitudes of pupils. They don’t inspect the quality of education directly.

If you’re successful, you’ll use your knowledge and skills to gather information about the life and work of the school from the perspective of both pupils and staff.

To be eligible, you cannot have been employed in a school but can have been a volunteer or a governor. We particularly welcome those from diverse backgrounds and those working in the medium of Welsh to apply. We value different perspectives and lived experiences which help us make better, more informed decisions for learners.

For more information about us, the role and how to apply, download the application pack and form:

Apply by midday, 22 July 2025
